I think it's a sure sign you love someone when you would value their well-being over your own.
ReplyDeletethats the right answer. yet i wonder. its easy to determine that in the long run, over big things. what about the small day to day things? little joys and pleasures and indulgences and bear-up-with-irritations ... ?
ReplyDeleteThat is hard to answer. There are so many different types of love, like for one's parents or friends or for one's lover/spouse.
ReplyDeleteI've been with my girlfriend for 8 years (we are not married) and even now from time to time we have to keep asking ourselves from time to time whether we are truly in love and moving forward or just going nowhere. Sometimes are good, sometimes not so good.
Maybe real love is when you honestly want the other person in your life forever, as opposed to just having them around because one is scared to be alone.
bingo. i think that for the particular situation of the person who did ask me this question on saturday, married young, but together for years now, this is the right answer :D
